NYPD officer aiming for aggressive dog shoots U.S. Marshal while serving warrants in Jersey City

The NYPD has furthered the stereotype concerning their poor -or at the very least, unlucky- marksmanship skills after a city detective accidentally shot a US Marshal in an attempt to protect him from a pit bull.

The incident took place early Thursday morning while the NYPD were serving warrants alongside the US Marshals in Jersey City.

A pit bull entered the equation, leading the NYPD detective to open fire five times, killing the dog and hitting the US Marshal in the foot.

According to NorthJersey.com, the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is conducting a review of the incident in conjunction with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

The NYPD have long had a cloud over their reputation in regard to hitting bystanders or missing their targets, a phenomenon that some firearms experts correlate with infrequent training and the abnormally heavy 12-pound triggers that are installed in their service pistols.
